Something about myself...
For a long time, being a writer was something I dreamed of. I've always found it easier to express myself on paper rather than verbally. As a teenager I wrote short stories, but they were an expression of my life at the time and was shared with a few select friends. Later I started speaking about the desire in my heart to one day write a book. I didn't know at the time that it would be more than two decades later before I would publish my first book. It's a good thing we don't know how long some things are going to take because I'm sure most of us would give up before we started.
Fiction writing was what my heart desired. I love reading inspirational fiction and have been blessed so often and learned so much through these kind of books, that I wanted to give back to the world some of what I'd received through other people's writing. However, I soon found that I was seemingly better at writing non-fiction. It took a while for me to get comfortable with this reality.
As a born again Christian, a fundamentalist to the core, this is obviously where my passion lay; this is what I wanted to write about. I'm most at home when I'm writing in this genre. Not that I don't write about other things mind you; I just prefer writing in the genre I'm most comfortable with.
So here I am having published my first book, yet I long to do so much more. My heart continues to trust that God will use my writing to bless, help and encourage others. After all, if you can't touch other people's lives in a positive way, what's the point?
